The GLO will contract with Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi’s Harte Research Institute (HRI) to conduct additional modeling that will assess the impacts of projected urban growth and sprawl on water quality and the environment within the coastal zone
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will use funding to conduct beach benthic macrofaunal monitoring to assess time for the benthic invertebrate community to recover following a beach nourishment event at the City of South Padre Island.
Atkins developed an application package for a coast-wide regional general permit for beach nourishment as well as the associated biological assessments in the Texas upper coast and lower coast regions.
This project finalized engineering from the previous phase and construct approximately 8,820 linear feet of rock breakwaters and potentially approximately 13,500 linear feet of floatation channels at Bird Island Cove.
This project included engineering design, permitting & construction to repair Hurricane Harvey damage at Indianola Beach.
The University of Texas at Arlington and TAMU-Galveston will conduct field work and modeling to fill regional data gaps on flow connectivity and sediment dynamics along the Brazos River, Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, San Bernard River, and the Caney Creek.
Texas Water Trade will collect critical water quality and nutrient data associated with a water delivery to the estuarine environments downstream of the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
Clean Coast Texas will help communities with comprehensive planning, policy development, green stormwater infrastructure, floodplain management, sewage facility maintenance & funding strategies to support adoption of Texas Coastal NPS Program priorities.
Audubon will purchase a new tractor for island management and complete bird monitoring during nesting season.
