The City of Bayton improved shoreline access, enhanced public utilization, and aided ecotourism development. The project also removed and disposed of approximately 450 pilings from Tabbs Bay.
The City of South Padre Island continued to restore low lying areas and gaps in the dune line along the entire length of the City’s beach in an effort to form a continuous dune line that is 12 feet above sea level and 125 feet wide.
Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi continued the “Sink Your Shucks!” program to return shells to coastal bend bays to restore degraded habitat. The program was expanded, held outreach events, educated teachers, and restored reef habitat value.
The City of South Padre Island replaced the existing dune walkover with an ADA-compliant dune walkover and installed plumbing to irrigate the surrounding dunes.
Texas A&M University completed a status and trends study of coastal vulnerability to natural hazards of counties in the Texas Coastal Management Program (CMP) boundary.
Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi collected water samples from Ropes and Cole Parks and determined the presence of the enterococcal surface protein in the samples.
The Gulf of Mexico Foundation established an annual Matagorda Island shoreline cleanup, created a Whooping Crane curriculum product, and established an annual Seagrass Festival in the Redfish Bay State Scientific Study Area community.
The University of Texas continued the Texas High School Coastal Monitoring Program, which shows students and teachers how to measure the topography, map the vegetation line and shoreline, and observe weather and wave conditions.
Hernandex and Company conducted a background assessment leading to the design of an effective process for conducting the 10th Anniversary Program Review.
