Commissioner Buckingham Submits Second Letter to Biden-Harris Administration Opposing Proposed Third Offshore Wind Farm in Gulf of Mexico

Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. submitted a second letter opposing the Biden-Harris Administration's third proposal for an offshore wind energy lease. The new proposal, spearheaded by the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), is to lease approximately 142,528 acres directly to Hecate Energy Gulf Wind LLC.This latest proposal follows the cancellation of the larger Gulf of Mexico Wind Auction 2 due to a lack of commercial interest.

Commissioner Buckingham Announces Signed Memorandum of Understanding for Design Work on Coastal Texas Project

Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. is pleased to announce that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between the Texas General Land Office (GLO) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for design work on the Coastal Texas Project's Coastwide Ecosystem Restoration measures and the Coastal Storm Risk Management measure on South Padre Island.
