Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. announced that more than 4,500 volunteers participated along with her during the 2023 Adopt-A-Beach Coastwide Spring Cleanup this past Saturday. Derelict Vessel Turn-In Event: Harris County
Today, Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. announced that the Texas General Land Office (GLO) is partnering with Harris County Precinct Two, Harris County Commissioner Adrian Garcia, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) to provide the residents of Harris County with a free event to dispose of inoperable vessels. The Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) will take place May 30 to June 3 from 8 am to 4 pm.During the five-day turn-in event, residents may bring their derelict or inoperable boats to the designated drop-off location to be verified by the GLO and TPWD for eligibility. On Monday, April 10th at 2:00 p.m., the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery will conduct a World War II KIA/MIA Burial for U.S. Army Air Forces Second Lieutenant (2LT) Wayne Lou Dyer.Born on September 28, 1921, 2LT Dyer entered into service during World War II, and was assigned to the 569th Bombardment Squadron, 390th Bombardment Group (Heavy), 13th Bombardment Wing, 3rd Air Division, and 8th Air Force. He was shot down by enemy fighters during a large bombing mission near Leipzig, Germany in May 1944. Read More
