Today, Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D. is honored to update Texans on World War II Veteran U.S. Army Corporal Carl Reid's request to receive 100 cards for his 100th birthday on June 15th. In an incredible outpouring of support from people across our state and nation, Mr. Reid received over 4,500 cards. Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. is pleased to announce that Texans can order their own Texas Adopt-A-Beach specialty license plate to help reduce litter on Texas beaches and provide coastal environmental education to Texas children.This newly redesigned black and white specialty plate costs only $30 more than a regular plate, and $22 of plate sales go directly to support the Adopt-A-Beach program and is tax deductible.Additionally, the license plate features a photo by Texas' own Kenny Braun. CPL Reid— a resident at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home (TSVH) in Big Spring— has requested at least 100 birthday cards for this incredible milestone.
