Six-Day Derelict Vessel Turn-In Event in Port Isabel

The Texas General Land Office (GLO) is partnering with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), The City of Port Isabel, The City of South Padre Island, and the Port Isabel Navigation District to provide the Port Isabel and South Padre Island communities with a free event to dispose of derelict vessels. The Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) is scheduled for October 17-22 in Port Isabel. The voluntary, six-day turn-in event allows residents to bring their derelict or inoperable boats to the designated drop-off location to be verified by the GLO and TPWD for eligibility. Read More


Join Us for an Opening Celebration of Fort Worth's New Texas State Veterans Home

On Friday, October 21st, 2022, the Fort Worth community is invited to join Texas Land Commissioner and Chairman of the Veterans Land Board George P. Bush for the soft opening of the new Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home. The opening ceremony will be held at 2200 Joe B. Rushing Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76119 at 10:30 a.m. The community is encouraged to attend. The new Texas State Veterans Home in Fort Worth is named after the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African American combat flying support program in the United States Armed Forces. Texas GLO Posts Amendment 11 to Hurricane Harvey State Action Plan for Public Comment

Today the Texas General Land Office (GLO) posted Amendment 11 to the State Action Plan for $5.676 billion in Community Development Block Grants for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) for a federally required 30-day public comment period. Action Plan Amendment 11 is available for review at https://recovery.texas.gov/public-notices/index.html. Amendment 11 maintains the $1.2 billion in CDBG-DR funds to continue to address unmet recovery needs within the City of Houston. Volunteers Remove Over 150,000 Pounds of Trash from the Texas Coast

This past weekend, over 5,000 volunteers gathered at 26 sites along the Texas coastline to participate in the 2022 Adopt-A-Beach Fall Cleanup. A total of 151,969 pounds of trash was removed from the Texas coast during the event, which took place on Saturday, September 17. Read More


General Land Office Wraps Up Aransas County Vessel Turn-In Program

The Texas General Land Office (GLO) concluded its Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) in Aransas County, which was held September 9-10. During the event, the GLO, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), Aransas County, Keep Aransas Beautiful and the City of Rockport together collected 19 vessels measuring 331 linear feet, as well as two trailers.    Removing abandoned vessels from coastal waters comes at a considerable expense—around $200-300 per foot. The Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) is scheduled for September 9-10 at the Aransas County Airport . The voluntary, two-day turn-in event allows residents to bring their derelict or inoperable boats to the designated drop-off location to be verified by the GLO and TPWD for eligibility. Shoreline Restoration Work to Begin at McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge

The Texas General Land Office (GLO) and multiple partners are set to begin work on the restoration of approximately 17 miles of the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) shoreline in Jefferson and Chambers counties.The restoration project will span from High Island to Sea Rim State Park and will improve the shoreline by widening its beaches to better accommodate recreation, stabilizing the shoreline against further erosion by planting native species and constructing dunes, as well as protecting its marsh system, which acts as a critical habitat for&#16 Read More


Deadline to Apply for the Homeowner Assistance and Reimbursement Programs HARP is Aug 31, 2022

 AUSTIN — Today the Texas General Land Office (GLO) announced the application for the Homeowner Assistance and Reimbursement Program (HARP) will close at 5 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2022. Applications are currently being reviewed in all eligible counties affected by flooding events in South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley in 2018 and 2019, as well as Tropical Storm Imelda in 2019.
