MORE THAN 8,900 POUNDS OF TRASH COLLECTED AT ADOPT-A-BEACH WINTER CLEANUP
Over 340 volunteers participated in the 2021 Annual Adopt-A-Beach Winter Cleanup that took place on February 5 and 6, 2021. Volunteers worked together to clean a total of 28.5 miles of beach and bay area. The two-day trash cleanup event resulted in over 8,900 pounds of trash being removed, leaving our Texas beaches clean and beautiful for wildlife and the community alike to enjoy. Sixty-three volunteers helped clean South Padre Island on Friday and collected 1,512 pounds of trash. Read More
Land Office Launches Texas Defense Task Force
Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the formation of the Texas Defense Task Force within the General Land Office with the mission to identify federal overreach and fend off threats to the Texas oil and gas economy.The move comes less than two weeks after Governor Abbott's order for state agencies to begin preparing to protect Texas' energy industry from the crippling effects of federal overreach seen in the first weeks of the Biden Administration. VLB Board Approves Increase to Home Loan Limits, Reduce Land Loan Rates
The Veterans Land Board unanimously approved three critical changes for Texas Veterans benefits. With home prices on the rise, the VLB unanimously authorized an increase to the maximum home loan amount the VLB can approve for Veterans seeking homeownership. The VLB also unanimously approved a reduction in the price of several tracts of land available for sale to Texas Veterans, following new appraisal data. Read More

Texas GLO successfully completes reimbursement program, hits 2,500 homes rebuilt
AUSTIN – Today Commissioner George P. Bush announced major milestones in the Texas General Land Office’s (GLO) Homeowner Assistance Program and Homeowner Reimbursement Program. The GLO has now helped nearly 5,500 Texas homeowners recover from Hurricane Harvey. The two disaster recovery programs are helping Texans across 48 counties (outside of Harris County and the city of Houston) whose homes were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. Read More
TX VLB INITIATES OPERATION SHARE THE LOVE

TX VLB’s Virtual Assistant “Maverick” Hits Milestone
Today, the Texas Veterans Land Board announced its virtual assistant has helped over 1,000 Texas Veterans with requests for assistance since its inception. TX GLO ANNOUNCES 2021 “TREASURES OF THE TEXAS COAST” CHILDREN'S ART CONTEST
Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the 2021 “Treasures of the Texas Coast Children's Art Contest” is open for entries. All Texas students (public, private, and home-schooled) in grades K-6 are encouraged to participate. TX GLO ANNOUNCES NEW ADOPT-A-BEACH LICENSE PLATE DESIGN
Today, the Texas General Land Office announced a newly-designed Adopt-A-Beach specialty license plate. The new plates are available to purchase for a total of $30, with $22 of that will be contributed to the Adopt-A-Beach program’s all-volunteer effort to keep trash off Texas beaches. The license plate features a photo by Texas’ own Kenny Braun.
