DEADLINE TO SUBMIT APPLICATIONS FOR THE HURRICANE HARVEY HOMEOWNER ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS IN HOUSTON AND HARRIS COUNTY EXTENDED TO 5 PM DEC. 31 (extended to Dec. 31) *

Today the Texas General Land Office (GLO) announced the application for the Homeowner Assistance Program (HAP) will close at 5 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2021. All potential applicants must submit completed applications by the deadline to be considered for eligibility so long as funding is available.The HAP regional offices will remain open, and processing of applications will continue indefinitely until program funds are fully expended. Applications will be considered for award on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the priorities outlined in the Regional Housing Guidelines. Read More

VLB Partners with Nueces County to Manage Texas State Veterans Cemetery

Beginning this month, Nueces County assumed the day-to-day management of the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. In 2019, the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) and Nueces County began talks on a potential partnership in which the County would serve as the primary entity responsible for maintenance and care of the cemetery. State Agencies Join Forces to Encourage Local Communities to Apply for Funding for Local Hazard Mitigation Plans

Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene to Receive $3.09 Million Expansion Grant

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) a grant of $3,092,700 to expand the cemetery and make improvements to the 31-acre burial grounds. VLB Chairman George P. VOLUNTEERS COLLECT OVER 58,000 POUNDS OF TRASH AT ADOPT-A-BEACH COASTWIDE CLEANUP

Volunteers from all over Texas participated in the Adopt-A-Beach 2021 Coastwide Fall Cleanup that took place this past weekend on Saturday September 18. Texas General Land Office, Industry Leaders Usher in New Era of Carbon Sequestration Near Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY – The Texas General Land Office (GLO) recently awarded a first of its kind carbon sequestration project that will allow for offshore storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) in submerged lands near Jefferson County, near Port Arthur. By storing CO2, a byproduct generated from industrial activity and power generation, the GLO will help meet market-driven decarbonization goals while raising money for the Permanent School Fund. CORPUS CHRISTI - Today, Texas General Land Commissioner, George P. Bush announced a new agreement with the Port of Corpus Christi to develop infrastructure that captures carbon dioxide produced during oil and natural gas development. The two governmental bodies have executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) stating their intention to co-develop a carbon dioxide (CO2) storage solution in the Coastal Bend for CO2 captured in the Port of Corpus Christi area.
