Michael Weisheit joined the U.S. Army in 1968 at the age of 19. In 1969 after training, he went to Vietnam as a combat engineer, clearing minefields and building firebases in Vietnam. Mr. Weisheit was awarded three purple hearts for injuries he received during combat and the bronze star for his courageous actions in Vietnam. He is now retired and lives in Killeen, Texas.
