Douglas Rising joined the U.S. Army in 1968 as a 2nd Lieutenant after attending ROTC. He spent time in Germany and Thailand. While in the Army, he served as an advisor to the Royal Thai Army for supply and maintenance. Mr. Rising left the service in 1973 and now resides at the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home in Temple, Texas.
