Meredith Motz served as an artillery officer in the U.S. Army, one of the first females to do so. Upon graduation from college she was commissioned and assigned to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. She remained at Ft. Sill when her unit deployed as women are not allowed in combat arms specialities in a combat zone. She later married a fellow soldier, left the Army, and moved to Texas.
