Keifer Marshall was born and raised in Temple, TX and served as a Marine rifleman during WWII.

He took part in the famous Battle of Iwo Jima with Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines. During the fight he and members of his unit were cut off by the Japanese and spent over 36 hours behind enemy lines without reinforcements or supplies.

Prior to the war Mr. Marshall played football at the University of Texas. Upon returning home he graduated from UT, started his own insurance business, and served as mayor of Temple, TX.
