John Joiner served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Roe. He took part in the assaults on Pelileu, Tinian, and Iwo Jima and his ship sank a Japanese destroyer and also rescued a downed B-29 crew. He now resides in Georgetown, Texas.
