Duyane Hindsley was reared in the west Texas town of Rochester and entered the U.S. Army in 1942 while a student at Abilene Christian College. He would serve in the infantry and took part in numerous engages in the Pacific theater, to include the invasion of the Philippines. Wounded by an exploding shell, Mr. Hindsley was awarded the Purple Heart. He was later part of the occupation force in Japan before returning home to Texas. He now resides in Corpus Christi.
