Mr. Cruz was a member of Charlie Company, 99th Signal Battalion in the US Army during WWII. He served as a lineman and took part in the battles of Luzon and New Guinea and was used as a sniper at various times. He served from 1942 until Jan. 10, 1946 and left the Army with the rank of Corporal.
