Jimmy Burks, a native Texan, joined the U.S. Army in April 1969. He was an 11B20 Light Weapons Infantryman and, served a tour in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart after being wounded in action. Mr. Burks joined the Army National Guard and retired in 1995. He resides at the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home in Amarillo, Texas.
