Peter Blakely, a native of upstate New York, served in the U.S. Air Force as an F-86 Sabre fighter pilot during the Korean War. He saw extensive action during his nine months in theater. On his 49th mission on Nov. 4, 1952 his plane was shot down. He survived and continued as a pilot until he left the service in 1955. He now resides in Georgetown, TX.
