Oral History: Alvarez, Cindy

Cindy Alvarez joined the U.S. Navy in 1981. She studied journalism, radio, and TV broadcasting at the Defense Information School at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indiana. Ms. Alvarez served in Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, and Spain before leaving the service in 1986. In 1987, she joined NIS and was at the Pentagon on the day of the 9/11 attacks, and in 2008, she retired as a federal agent. Ms. Alvarez is working on her doctorate in history in Denton, Texas.
