Alamo Firearms of the Texas Frontier exhibit extended through May 31, 2015

SAN ANTONIO - Today Texas General Land Office Commissioner George P. Bush announced the wildly popular Firearms of the Texas Frontier exhibit has been extended through May 31st. Visitors have the opportunity to view firearms that helped settle the Texas frontier. This exciting exhibit contains historic firearms and artifacts on loan from the National Rifle Association and gracious Texas philanthropists such as Alamo Endowment Board member Red McCombs. In 1836, single-shot flintlock muskets, rifles, and pistols served as the primary firearms in the Battle of the Alamo. Commissioner George P. Bush Appoints First Female Chief Clerk at the Texas General Land Office

AUSTIN - Commissioner George P. Bush today announced the appointment of Anne Idsal to serve as the first female Chief Clerk of the Texas General Land Office. In this constitutionally mandated position, Idsal will act as the chief executive officer for the Land Office and manage the daily activities of the agency. The Texas General Land Office (GLO) and City of San Antonio have teamed up to direct a collaborative vision for the future of the Alamo Complex and the surrounding historic district. The City, in partnership with the GLO, is reissuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for eligible firms to develop a comprehensive master plan for the Alamo Plaza Historic District, including the State-owned Alamo Complex.The City issued the original RFQ in December 2014 for a master plan of Alamo Plaza and the surrounding historic district, not including the State’s property.
