Sediment Monitoring in Galveston Bay

Project Description

The Texas Water Development Board continued to reinstitute monitoring of sediment loading to important coastal ecosystems, conduct associated research, and to combine the data with information from related projects into sediment budgets for waterbodies in the Galveston Bay system. This information allows sediment budgets to be calculated for the individual systems and assist in determining sediment/freshwater needs of coastal wetlands. Sediment budget data may also assist in developing new coastal or wetland restoration programs and any new policies and regulations for freshwater inflow to bays and estuaries.
