Mr. Mendoza, a native of south Texas, served in the Army during WWII as an infantryman. He saw action in Europe during the war and remained in the Texas National Guard until 1984. Now residing in Austin, Mr. Mendoza is works part time as a DPS security guard for the state of Texas.
