Bill Meier, a native of Manor, Texas, served in the U.S. Army's 78th Lightning Division during WWII. He was a light machine gunner and saw extensive combat throughout the European theater of the war and was wounded by a German sniper near the Rhine River. Mr. Meier is now retired and resides in northwest Austin.
