John McFall served as a 60mm mortarman with the Echo Company, 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division of the US Army during WWII. He saw extensive action throughout Europe with battles at Anzio, Rome, and Southern France. His unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation and he personally received a Bronze Star for his actions in combat. Mr. McFall was enlisted during the war, but later served with the Texas National Guard and retired as a major.
