Orby Ledbetter served as an Army infantryman in Europe during WWII. Captured by the Germans, he was held for over 19 months as a prisoner of war. During that time he wrote poetry and made sketches in a journal provided to him by the Red Cross. He still has the journal today and now resides in Victoria.
