Capt Klomann served as a B-52 navigator-bombardier with the 348th Bomb Squadron at Westover AFB, Massachusetts, from May 1970 to until he was forced to eject over North Vietnam and was taken as a Prisoner of War on December 20, 1972.
Capt Klomann served as a B-52 navigator-bombardier with the 348th Bomb Squadron at Westover AFB, Massachusetts, from May 1970 to until he was forced to eject over North Vietnam and was taken as a Prisoner of War on December 20, 1972. He was badly injured and was one of only two survivors from his crew. After spending 55 days in captivity, he was released during Operation Homecoming on February 12, 1973, and then was hospitalized to recover from his injuries at Wilford Hall in San Antonio, TX from February 1973 until he was medically retired from the Air Force on June 10, 1974.
