Tom Holland, a native of Lockhart, TX, served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII with the 447th Bomb Group. He was a tailgunner aboard a B-17 when it was shot down over Bohlen, Germany. Of the ten men in the crew only he and one other survived. Mr. Holland was quickly captured by the Germans and held as a P.O.W. for ten months. He was freed as the war ended. Today Mr. Holland is still active in aviation and runs his own shop at the Lockhart Municipal Airport.
