Clyde O. Combs was drafted in 1943 and went into the U.S. Navy. He attended quartermaster school and motor torpedo boat training, where he was assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron Ron 35. Mr. Combs was part of D-Day on June 6th, 1944, The Invasion of Normandy, where his boat, the PT-515, protected the west flank. He got out of the Navy in 1945. On the 65th anniversary of D-Day, Mr. Combs received the French Legion of Honor Medal. After the service, Mr.Combs became an engineer and now resides in Houston, Texas.
