Antonio Canas enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1995. He served as an Armor Crew Member with the 2 nd Brigade, 1 st Calvary Division out of Fort Hood, Texas. In 1998, he went to Bosnia, and in 2000, he changed his MOS to a Petroleum Specialist. Mr. Canas first deployed to Afghanistan in 2002 and then went on back-to-back tours to Iraq. In 2007, he was accepted into the ROTC program and was commissioned as a Human Resource Officer in May 2009. His first assignment as an officer was with Task Force Odin 306 th Aviation Battalion, and he deployed for a second time to Afghanistan in 2010. He served as the Human Resources Officer at Fort Bragg with the 27 th Engineer Battalion and with the 19 th Expeditionary Sustainment Command in South Korea. In 2020, Mr. Canas retired as a Captain after twenty-five years as a Brigade S1 in the same unit where everything started.
