Robert Patrick Barry attended Virginia Military Institute and, after college, went into the U.S. Air Force in 1952. Mr. Barry flew F-86s and F-100s during his military career. He served all over the world, in Korea, Japan, California, Virginia, Taiwan, and Vietnam. He had seventeen Atlantic and Pacific Ocean crossings in single-engine fighter jets, which included the first air-to-air refueling in an F-100 aircraft. Mr. Barry also served at the Pentagon on the Air Staff and was involved with the Strategic Arms limitation Talks (SALT). He retired as a Colonel with the Tactical Air Command out of Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas, in 1977 and has remained in the Austin area.
