Cayetano Tony Acevedo, a native Texan, was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1972. He was in transportation and had a tour in Vietnam, serving with the 3 rd Brigade, 1 st Calvary Division, and the 525 th Military Intelligence Expeditionary Brigade. After leaving the service in 1974, Mr. Acevedo served as a Corpus Christi Police Officer for over thirty years. In 2011 he began volunteering at The Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery and joined the Memorial Service Detachment Honor Guard (MSD). As of January 2023, he has participated in more than 3,000 burial services, ensuring our servicemen and women are laid to rest with honor and respect. Mr. Acevedo continues volunteering with MSD and resides in Corpus Christi, Texas.
