Restoring TCOON by Reimagining Lighthouse, a Data Platform

Project Description

The Grantee will use Coastal Management Program (CMP) Cycle 29 Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) funds to (1) restore a comprehensive 30+ year dataset from the TCOON consisting of historical and current data along the entire Texas coast by reimagining the Lighthouse data platform, (2) develop accessible and user-friendly automated tools that interface with the Lighthouse platform for the purposes of querying, visualizing, graphing, and analyzing real-time TCOON data. The Grantee will solicit professional services contracts with the original Lighthouse platform architect (“Subcontractor 1”) to assist in the development of the Lighthouse platform and a NOAA tidal expert (“Subcontractor 2”) to assist in the development of the automated tools. The Grantee will collaborate with the Texas General Land Office (GLO), and the NOAA Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS) to follow NOAA guidelines for quality control and assurance standards when relevant. This includes accuracy, completeness, consistency, and stewardship of the data throughout its lifecycle.
