Best Practices in Modeling Sediment Transport and Budget along the Texas Coast

Project Description

UTA will use Coastal Management Program Cycle 26 §309 funding to explore the uncertainties and errors of current practices of understanding sediment transport and budgets and offer recommendations for best practices to help inform the Texas General Land Office (GLO) Texas Sediment Management Plan. UTA will perform an in-depth, comprehensive review of the current understanding of sediment supply to the Texas coast as well as modeling practices for sediment transport and budget estimations, including most recent research findings and common empirical and numerical models. UTA will also perform case studies for two river systems to determine the errors/uncertainties associated with assumptions pertaining to upstream and lateral sediment supply, prescription of upstream LDC downstream, and mechanisms in modeling the transport of cohesive sediments.
