Bush announced that on Thursday, March 28th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. SHARP, the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran burial for SP4 Jack Dillard Richardson. On Friday, March 29th, theLamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Homewill host a Vietnam Veterans Day event at2:00 p.m. The community is invitedto join the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Home as we celebrate our Texas Veterans who honorably served in Vietnam. Veterans will be honored during our Welcome Home Pinning Ceremony. This year we will be pinning 19 new Vietnam Veterans and honoring over 50 Veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of our nation during the Vietnam war. Ussery Roan Texas State Veterans Home Medal of Honor Celebration
On Monday, March 25th, 2019 the Ussery Roan Texas State Veterans Home will be hosting an event to celebrate National Medal of Honor day. Ussery Roan is excited to host the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum as they bring Charles Roan's Congressional Medal of Honor to the facility. This is the first time Mr. Roan's Medal of Honor will have a presence in the State Veterans Home in which is named after him. Mr. Don Sherman and Mr. Kevin Black from the American Legion in Claude Texas, home of Charles Roan, will give a brief history lesson about Mr. Roan and how he earned his Medal of Honor. Read More

On Friday, March 29th, the Frank M. TejedaTexas State Veterans Home will host a Vietnam Veterans Day event at 1:30 p.m. including a performance by ReCreation at 2 p.m. The community is invited to join the Frank M. Tejeda Veterans Home as we celebrate our Texas Veterans who honorably served in Vietnam. The event will kick off with a “Welcome Home” speech from Daniel Medrano, former president of the Vietnam Veterans Association from 2006 to 2014. Read More

Bush announced that TODAY Friday, March 15th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. SHARP, the Rio Grande Valley Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas will conduct an Unaccompanied Veteran burial for Specialist James Sabatke. Born in March of 1960, Sabatke served as a United States Army Veteran from 1977 to 1985 as an Attack Helicopter Repair Specialist.Sabatke is not expected to have anyone attend his funeral, as no next-of-kin are able to attend. Cmr. Bush announces release of 2019 Texas Coastal Resiliency Master Plan
Today, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the release of the 2019 Texas Coastal Resiliency Master Plan, which addresses natural and man-made coastal environments. This Resiliency Plan also recommends 123 projects compiled by the Texas General Land Office coastal team with input from a Technical Advisory Committee to mitigate issues that negatively impact our coastal communities. “It is crucial that the Texas coast is resilient for the sake of our ecosystems, communities and state” said Commissioner Bush.
