GLO to host Adopt-A-Beach Winter Cleanups Friday in South Padre Island and Saturday in the Coastal Bend

AUSTIN - Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush is calling on volunteers for the 13th Annual Winter Beach Cleanups to be held Friday, Feb. 10th in the Rio Grande Valley on South Padre Island and Saturday, Feb. 11th at seven Coastal Bend beaches.  Registration for all begins at 8:30 a.m. The cleanup will begin at 9 a.m. Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of drinking water. Land Commissioner George P. Bush announces raises to veteran land and home loan limits

AUSTIN -Today Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced that Texas veterans are now eligible for low-interest land loans up to $150,000. Commissioner Bush increased the land loan limit from $100,000 to $125,000 in his first act as chairman of the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) in 2015 and he's raised it again two years later. Additionally, the VLB Veterans Housing Assistance Program (VHAP) loan guarantee was increased from $417,000 to $424,100, the current maximum VA conforming loan amount. "In Texas, honoring veterans is in our DNA," Commissioner Bush said. GLO joins local leaders to mark completion of 26 grant-funded homes in Texas City

Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush is pleased to announce that Galveston County, in a partnership with DSW Homes, has successfully completed the construction of 26 single-story new homes in Texas City referred to as The Oaks at Blue Jay Development. Galveston County received a $2.2 million Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) from the Texas General Land Office (GLO)'s Community Development & Revitalization (CDR) program, which was paired with funding from local partners to complete the $4.7 million project. Five-day Vessel Turn-In Program to make waves in Corpus Christi

AUSTIN - The Texas General Land Office (GLO) is partnering with the City of Corpus Christi and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) to offer local coastal Texans the opportunity to remove inoperable and derelict vessels through the Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) free of charge. Designed to provide owners with a voluntary method of disposal, interested boat owners are encouraged to participate if the vessel is less than 26 feet long, with longer boats being accepted on a case by case basis.
