Lubbock, Texas— On Wednesday, June 17th at 11:00 a.m., West Texas State Veterans Cemetery will conduct its first-ever Unaccompanied Veteran Burial. The ceremony will lay U.S. Army Veteran, Specialist 5 (SP5), Herman Brown, Jr., to rest. Born on August 9, 1944, SP5 Brown served from December 1963 to June 1966. SP5 Brown received the National Defense Service Medal, Pistol Marksmanship Badge, and the Rifle Expert Marksmanship Badge for his service to our nation.
SP5 Brown is not expected to have any next-of-kin attend his burial. Please help us spread the word and ensure that this U.S. Army Veteran is not buried alone. Members of the Lubbock community are encouraged to attend.
SP5 Brown will receive military honors. If no next-of-kin is present at the burial, a Veterans Land Board Representative will accept the United States flag on his behalf.
The Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) works with local communities and fellow Veterans service organizations to ensure NO Veteran is EVER left behind.
