Today, Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. announced that the Texas General Land Office (GLO) is partnering with Harris County Precinct Two, Harris County Commissioner Adrian Garcia, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) to provide the residents of Harris County with a free event to dispose of inoperable vessels. The Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) will take place May 30 to June 3 from 8 am to 4 pm.During the five-day turn-in event, residents may bring their derelict or inoperable boats to the designated drop-off location to be verified by the GLO and TPWD for eligibility. Today, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham M.D. encouraged all friends of Texas beaches to join her and participate in the 2023 Adopt-A-Beach Coastwide Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 22nd. Today, Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. announced that the Texas General Land Office (GLO) is partnering with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and Orange County to provide the residents of Orange County with a free event to dispose of inoperable vessels. The Vessel Turn-In Program (VTIP) will take place April 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, and 29 from 10 am to 6 pm. 27th Annual “Treasures of the Texas Coast” Children’s Art Contest
AUSTIN—Today, Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. kicked off the 27th Annual Treasures of the Texas Coast Children’s Art Contest, which is facilitated through the Texas General Land Office’s (GLO) Adopt-A-Beach Program. All Texas students, public, private, and homeschooled, in kindergarten through sixth grade are encouraged to send in their masterpieces. Artwork should be based on the theme “Treasures of the Texas Coast” and should depict why the Texas coast is important or special to the student. Read More

Volunteers Remove Over 150,000 Pounds of Trash from the Texas Coast
This past weekend, over 5,000 volunteers gathered at 26 sites along the Texas coastline to participate in the 2022 Adopt-A-Beach Fall Cleanup. A total of 151,969 pounds of trash was removed from the Texas coast during the event, which took place on Saturday, September 17. Read More
